Hand Dyed Leather Shoulder Bag with Fabric Lining

$230.00

The original white kangaroo leather was made in South East Queensland, and the tanning process didn’t quite go to plan. This creates a unique finish that can’t be replicated, then I’ve then hand applied a leather dye and top coat. There are some areas where the dye has soaked into the base leather, and other areas have a splatter or drip finish.

There is a zipper gusset to secure all your essentials inside, the zipper is silver and a coloured pull adds a pop of colour.

Strap length from end to end is approximately 54cm
Strap drop – top of strap to top of bag is approximately 24cm
Bag is 36cm wide at the top and 28cm wide at the base, with the base approximately 8cm across
Bag is 20cm tall at the side seams

The Marie Mini Tote pattern used was named after Marie Curie. The original size was designed with carrying around A4 paper, and all the essentials that would be needed for a scientist. I then scaled it down to create the mini size, it’s still a generous size, and as usual will fit my A5 bullet journal and some pens with plenty of room to spare.

Because of the handwork finish, this hide is more delicate than a traditional factory finished leather, and will have more variations to the finish and the texture than traditional leather.

The leather is made in Australia, and the cotton lining fabric was sourced from an Australian business, and designed by another Brisbane artist. Bags are designed and made in my MEW Designs Studio (also known as a laboratory) in Brisbane Australia.
