This bag is made out of a beautiful soft Australian made black kangaroo leather, with cut outs showing a vinyl ‘leatherette’ panel with a floral print on a red background. The lining is a cotton fabric with the same print. The print is designed by an Australian artist, Racheal King, and sourced from a Brisbane based fabric company.
Wardian cases are the forerunners to modern terrariums, and were used to transport botanical samples, as well as store them especially in polluted industrial London. Many were sent from Australia to London in the early days of England exploring Australia, and many with plants that to me are completely normal. This bag is a slice of history mixed with a functional bag that makes a statement.
When designing this pattern I made sure it was large enough to fit the essentials, to me that’s an A5 bullet journal, pencil case as well as my wallet, keys and a snack!
The handle on the top from base of the connector is 27cm long and sits 11cm above the top of the bag
23cm wide at the top
16cm wide at the base
21cm tall
There are 6 purse feet on the base. The black nylon zipper has one black zipper pull.
The leather used is made in Australia, and my bags are designed and made in my MEW Designs studio in Brisbane Australia.
As the leather is a natural product there may be slight variations in the texture and finish.
I blogged more detail about this bag
